The focus of this webinar will present an overview of the new Rad Hard POL developed by STMicroelectronics. This Rad Hard synchronous step down switching regulator converts 3.0V to 12.0V input Voltage, with a current up to 7A.
The use of COTS in Space applications is not a new concept. Development of new electronic components is now driven by the commercial market. As a result, the percentage of COTS components used in Space applications is growing, compared to the ‘traditional’ components originating from the military market.
This webinar will go over some of the challenges of selecting EEE components for lower-cost space missions. It will present the continuing need for radiation tolerance in the components, as well as quality needs. The Renesas line of Radiation-Tolerant and Radiation-Hardened Plastic products will also be discussed, including qualification, screening and assurance testing flows.
The webinar describes circuit-level details of how to use the device in the intended applications and presents some experimental results demonstrating its performance. The RHRPMICL1A device has been recently qualified to the QML-V standard for radiation hardness with SMD number 5962-17211
