Modern measuring equipment, such as the HP4195A impedance analyzer and similar instruments, allow computer-aided derivation of equivalent circuits and their optimization. Constant parameters for inductance L, capacitance C, and resistance R are required for the simulation of electronic circuits. An incorrect approach in defining an equivalent circuit leads to flawed or incorrect simulation results.

IR reflow soldering IR infrared “convection” reflow is commonly used in commercial large volume SMD components mounting process. The main differences in reflow soldering processes and oven types lie in heat transfer methods – radiation, conduction, convection, and condensation. In fact, all heat transfers are used in modern reflow ovens. The heat is applied from above, below, or all directions dependent on the equipment being used. In classical infrared “radiation” reflow ovens, several ceramic heaters are transferring the heat to the assemblies, moving through the oven on a conveyor belt, by radiation.

Capacitors can be divided into two main groups: 1) electrostatic, non-polarized and 2) polarized capacitors. Polarized capacitors can be then divided into electrolytic and supercapacitors. See the following chart with more details. The latter is by their construction polarity dependent with one plus terminal and one minus. The electrostatics don’t have this polarity dependence in their dielectric which therefore can be subjected also to alternating voltages.
