Abstract:
Laser diodes (LDs) are becoming more popular in space application because of it’s higher data rate and more resistance to EMI, but they are now all commercial parts. Constructive analysis and temperature cycles shows some unsuitable aspects of commercial LDs for space mission, such as material, mechanical technic, soldering technic, life time and so on. In this presentation, we will discuss these defects and the methods to correct them to assure the quality of LDs in space application in some Chinese space projects.
